FOOD ACCESS PROGRAMS

SNAP & SNAP MARKET MATCH

SNAP & Market Match at the Farmers Market
We proudly welcome and support SNAP/EBT customers at our market! Here's how these programs work to make fresh, local food more accessible and affordable:

What is SNAP/EBT?
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—formerly known as food stamps—helps low-income individuals and families purchase food. Benefits are loaded onto an EBT card, which works like a debit card.

At the farmers market, you can use your EBT card to buy:
-
Fruits and vegetables
-
Meat, dairy, and eggs
-
Breads and grains
-
Seeds and food-producing plants
Simply visit the market’s information booth to swipe your EBT card and receive market tokens to spend with participating vendors.
What is SNAP Market Match?
SNAP Market Match is a bonus program that helps your SNAP dollars go further. When you use your EBT card at the market, you’ll receive extra matching dollars to spend specifically on:
-
Fresh fruits
-
Fresh vegetables
-
Herbs
-
Mushrooms
-
And sometimes beans or legumes
For example:
Spend $25 in SNAP, get an additional $25 in Market Match to use on produce!

This match program helps make healthy food more accessible and directly supports local farmers and producers. The Snohomish Farmers Market matches up to $25 per customer, per market day.
How to Use It at Our Market
-
Go to the market info booth / "Market Headquarters"
-
Swipe your EBT card for however much you’d like to spend.
-
Receive:
-
EBT tokens (usable for all SNAP-eligible foods)
-
Market Match tokens (usable for fresh produce)
-
-
Shop with participating vendors — look for the sign, or ask!
Why It Matters
When you use SNAP and Market Match, you’re not only feeding your family nutritious food—you’re also investing in small farms and local businesses. It’s a win-win!
